The Procedure

When we buy scrap metals from all our customers, all the metals stay combined together, making it difficult to identify the differences between ferrous metal and non-ferrous metals. The metals are separated using the following steps:

Step 1:

We use magnets to separate the ferrous metals from the non-ferrous ones. The ferrous metals will attract the magnets while the non-ferrous ones will fall off. The separated metals are kept aside for the next step.

Step 2:

With the now separated metals, we’ll either tear them up into smaller particles and melt and mould them into different shapes; or condensed together to make them easily recyclable. The reasons why we shred the metals or condense them is to ensure that the large chunk of metal pieces are easily managed and have enough parts to recycle without wasting any.

Step 3:

The final step involves the actual recycling. Some metals are dissolved in chemicals to produce substantial materials while few are given to other metal companies who can utilise them for various purposes. For example, a can of soda is melted and moulded into large metal sheets that can be turned into a car part.

Understanding the Types of Metals
